Back Pain Treatment

Back injuries are the second biggest reason for people to consult a physician, reported an article published in Joplin Globe. As we grow older age associated ailments start emerging.  Back pain is a normal aging process but at times, depending on the level of severity, could hinder our daily activities. Nobody wants to have it but at the same time it’s hard to avoid it too. According to the National Institute of Health, back pain will afflict 80% of Americans at some point in their lives. Doctors and Chiropractors are being consulted for back pain treatment options by increasing number of people with back issues. As a matter of fact back pain is not something that just happens all of a sudden. Our body is like a machine and like every machine, with age; some wear and tear is bound to happen. But there certainly are reasons that contribute towards the issue. It could happen as a result of daily activities we involve ourselves in. Our life styles, wrong posture, bad lifting techniques, weight issues, lack or excess of exercise and small aches and pains that we tend to ignore, all add up and could result in chronic pain.

Back pain is the top reason rendering people unable to attend work. Occupational Health and Safety and Worker’s Compensation estimate loss of millions of dollars due to low production, lost profit and payment of medical bills for back pain treatment, for their employees, who report absence due to back pain. On the other hand it means more business for physicians, chiropractors, physiotherapists and ergonomic experts.

Chronic back pain is a very serious condition but we must remember there is always a way to prevent or lessen it with back pain treatments. One very good example is to remember to stretch to prepare our bodies for daily activities, like we stretch to get ready for exercise. The distinctive factor between and inactive person and a sportsman/woman is the level of physical activity and stretching. Athletes are involved in strenuous physical activity and still are able to preserve the integrity of their backs. This is only due to the proper stretching they do prior to exercise. One must remember to do that as well and this undoubtedly will result in better back health. Some other things to remember on a daily bases are to adjust the monitor to eye level. This lessens the fatigue caused by bad posture by helping to keep the neck and spine vertebrae straight. While sitting in a chair, one must try to support their lower back by sitting as close to the back of the chair as possible. Keep the back of the chair upright and as a result the neck and head will be aligned. This will result in less strain on the back.

Remember back pain is a result of aging and wear and tear that is bound to happen in our bodies, over the period of years. However, this pain may be reduced or avoided by learning to have a good posture and remembering to stretch regularly. These simple steps will result in a stronger back and better general health for us.
